The power failure sensor detects power failure and sends out alerts in times of power failure. The sensor is commonly used to monitor the power supply of a main, 3 phase, UPS or backup generator source. The alerts comes in the form of email, SMS and SNMP traps.
The power failure sensor comes with an external power adapter that is plugged into the power line that is to be monitored. The sensor itself is powered by a UPS system so that it can still send out alerts during power failure. The recommended alerting mechanism should be SMS as network switches will also go down in times of power failure.
The power failure sensor will determine if a trip condition has occurred. The sensor is tripped when no power is detected from its external power adapter for longer than the number of preset minutes.
The power failure sensor has recovered when the sensor is tripped and power is detected from its external power adapter for longer than the number of preset minutes.
The power failure sensor can be configured to send out alerts for the following conditions:
- Sensor is tripped.
- Repeat alert interval is reached when sensor remains tripped.
- Sensor has recovered.
The power failure sensor can be configured to send out alerts by SMS, email and SNMP traps. Multiple profiles can be set for each alert mechanism.
