Virtual USB server appliance Getting Started Guide

1. Package contents

  • Virtual USB server appliance
  • Micro USB cable

2. Power up

  1. Connect the Virtual USB server appliance with the Micro USB cable to a power adapter or your notebook’s USB port.
  2. Turn on the power adapter.
  3. The LED of Virtual USB server appliance will be steady upon complete power up.

3. Network connection

3.1 Connect by Wi-Fi

  1. Virtual USB server appliance is configured as access point mode with SSID “Cloudhub_xxxx”.
  2. Connect your notebook’s Wi-Fi adapter to SSID “Cloudhub_xxxx” with password “cloudhub66”.

3.1 Connect by Ethernet

  1. Configure your notebook’s Ethernet adapter to DHCP.
  2. Connect your notebook’s Ethernet port to Virtual USB server appliance’s LAN port with an Ethernet cable.

4. Setup Virtual USB client software

  1. Your notebook needs to run the Virtual USB client software to use Virtual USB server appliance.
  2. Download the Virtual USB client software according to your operating system.
  3. Microsoft Windows
  4. MacOS (later than version 12)

5. Using USB device

  1. Connect a USB device to Virtual USB server appliance.
  2. Start the Virtual USB client software.
  3. In the client software’s GUI:
    1. The Virtual USB server appliance will be automatically listed under “USB Hubs” as CloudHub after 20 seconds.
    2. The USB device connected will appear under the CloudHub.
    3. Right click on the USB device that appears and select “Use” to use the device.
    4. You can now access the USB device remotely as if it is directly connected to your notebook.

6. Configure network properties

  1. The Virtual USB Server appliance can be configured as standalone or as part of the network.
  2. To manage the Virtual USB Server, right click on the Virtual USB Server and select Properties.
  3. Click on the “Configure” button and enter the password cloudhub66 to access the configuration interface.
  4. To configure as standalone network device:
    1. Select “standalone” to configure Virtual USB server appliance as a standalone device.
    2. Check “Enable Wireless LAN” to enable the wireless adapter and assign its SSID and password.
    3. Check “Enable Wired LAN” to enable the Ethernet adapter.
  5. To configure the Virtual USB Server as part of an existing network:
    Select “Connect via LAN” or “Connect via LAN” to connect using the wireless or Ethernet adapter.
  6. Reset:
    There is a reset button beside the LAN port. If the Virtual USB Server appliance is unreachable, you can reset the device by using a pin to press the reset button for 10 seconds, and power off and power on again. 

7. Save server log

  1. Follow the following steps to generate the server log for troubleshooting purposes.
  2. From the client software, right click on the Virtual USB Server and select Properties.
  3. Click on the “Configure” button and enter the password cloudhub66 to access the configuration interface.
  4. Click on “Advanced…” button at the bottom right and select “Save Server Log” to save the server log.
  5. Send the server log to our support team for analysis.

8. Update firmware

  1. Follow the following steps to update the firmware of Virtual USB Server upon the advice of our technical team.
  2. From the client software, right click on the Virtual USB Server and select Properties.
  3. Click on the “Configure” button and enter the password cloudhub66 to access the configuration interface.
  4. Click on “Advanced…” button at the bottom right and select “Update Firmware…”.
  5. Select the firmware file provided and click “Open” and confirm to update the firmware.
  6. The Virtual USB Server will automatically reboot upon successful firmware update.
