First time settings

  1. Download the Virtual USB client software on your notebook for your operating system:
    – Windows
    Client for Windows (32-bit, Win7/Server2008R2 or later)
    Client for Windows (64-Bit Win7/Server2008R2 or later)
    – OSX
    Client for OSX 10.8.5/10.9.5/10.10.x/limited support for 10.12.1 or later
    – Linux
    Client for Linux (i386)
    Client for Linux (amd64)
    Client for Linux (armv7-a)
  2. Connect a USB device to the Virtual USB Server.
  3. Plug in the power cable to turn on the Virtual USB Server.
  4. The Virtual USB Server will broadcast a Wifi network with SSID as Cloudhub_xxxx where xxxx is a unique number. 
  5. Join the network with the password cloudhub66.
  6. Start the Virtual USB client software and the Virtual USB Server will be automatically listed after about 20 seconds.
  7. Right click on the USB device that appears under the Virtual USB Server and select “Use” to use the device.
  8. You can now access the USB device wirelessly as if it is directly connected.

Network configuration

  1. The Virtual USB Server can be configured as standalone or as part of the network.
  2. To manage the Virtual USB Server, right click on the Virtual USB Server and select Properties.
  3. Click on the “Configure” button and enter the password cloudhub66 to access the configuration interface.
  4. You can configure the Virtual USB Server as a standalone device.
  5. Alternatively, you can configure the Virtual USB Server as part of an existing network.
  6. If the Virtual USB Server is unreachable, you can reset it by pressing the reset button for 10 seconds, then power off and power on again.

  1. Can the Virtual Client be run as a service?

    Yes.

  2. What are the Virtual Client Technical Limitations?

    The client can connect to any number of VirtualHere USB servers simultaneously (limited only by the client memory). The OSX version of the client will not work with isochronous devices such as speakers,microphones and webcams. The Windows and Linux clients do work with these devices.
